2009 Center Stage program
Center Stage from Wolf Trap is a nationally syndicated radio series compiled from live
Discovery Series performances. Debuted in 1999 and carried on nearly 250 stations nationwide, the series offers listeners a fresh format in American radio. Co-hosts Rich Kleinfeldt and Bill McGlaughlin (
St. Paul Sunday) engage in unscripted, insightful conversations providing in-depth analyses of the musical selections and personal commentary.
Center Stage from Wolf Trap also introduces listeners to contemporary works by some of today's leading composers. This special segment of each program, "Off the Beaten Track," juxtaposes less familiar works with pieces from the standard repertoire.
A Mission at Work
Catherine Filene Shouse, Wolf Trap's founder, provided a mandate: to preserve significant artistic traditions while supporting new initiatives; foster the careers of the next generation of artists; and to make education a key component in its artistic offerings.
The Discovery Series encompasses all aspects of this mission, and it honors Mrs. Shouse with an annual Founder's Day concert.
Schedule, program, and artists are subject to change.
