Development Internships
As a nonprofit organization, Wolf Trap relies on private philanthropy to help support its general operations and signature artistic and education programs, such as the Wolf Trap Opera Company and the Wolf Trap Institute for Early Learning Through the Arts. The Development Department administers all of Wolf Trap’s fundraising efforts, including solicitation and stewardship of contributions from individual membership, corporations, foundations, government sources, and through the coordination of major fundraising events.

- Strong computer skills (MS Word and Excel), experience with Raiser's Edge software is helpful but not necessary
- Outstanding writing, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Efficient organizational skills and ability to multitask
- Exceptional customer service skills, creativity, and initiative
Donor Relations
Work with the annual fund staff to develop strategies for broadening and diversifying Wolf Trap’s membership base through work on a variety of projects, including research on prospective major donors and planned gifts, grants management, and planning of various membership fulfillment and cultivation events.
- Assist in executing strategic donor communications by creating content for My Wolf Trap, Wolf Trap’s members-only website
- Help facilitate opportunities for donors to visit a Wolf Trap education classroom or other education events and programs
- Assist with donor stewardship mailings and contacts
- Record and manage information in donor database
- Conduct research on major gift prospects and financial analysis of projects and programs
- Assist donors with questions regarding their membership benefits
Special Events
Work behind the scenes with the Special Events team, assisting with the daily planning, logistics, coordination, and execution of Wolf Trap’s major fundraising events that help raise $1.5 million annually.
- Coordinate set-up and on-site registration at events
- Other projects include planning silent auctions, members-only trips, and marketing/outreach efforts for large events
- Assist with event invitation and RSVP process by managing information in the donor database
- Execute membership fulfillment and cultivation events
- Interact with donors, prospects, and board members on the phone, through email, and on-site at events
