Wolf Trap’s critically acclaimed multimedia artistic adventure series returns with its next world premiere installment! The evening’s program features The Sun Road, a new work by the Trey McIntyre Project. Giant HD video projections of the dancers at Glacier will intertwine with the dance on-stage and live music to interpret the park’s fragile environment and celebrate its grandeur.

Student Poster Competition Winner Declared! 

Stephanie Terrell, a graphic design student from Western Kentucky University, was selected as the winner of the Wolf Trap student poster competition. Stephanie received a cash prize of $300. Her award-winning poster will be on display at the world premiere on August 19^th and is now available for purchase at the Filene Center gift shop.

Wolf Trap Foundation recently held the student poster competition in conjunction with our artistic adventure series, Face of America, to challenge design students to produce an original visual representation of our event at Glacier National Park.

Program: Will include the world premiere of Wolf Trap commissioned The Sun Road, a new ballet by Trey McIntyre. This piece will also include projections on giant screens of work filmed on location in Glacier National Park.

About the Park: Glacier National Park, located in Montana, will celebrate its centennial in 2010. Home to pristine forests, alpine meadows, rugged mountains, and spectacular lakes, it is rich in Native American history and faces specific environmental challenges:  glaciers that have formed in the last thousand years—the Park’s geological gems—are currently shrinking at an alarming rate.

About the Series: In recognition of the extraordinary role that America’s National Parks play in preserving our country’s rich cultural and natural resources, in 2000 Wolf Trap launched its original performances series, Face of America, taking audiences on a journey to discover the diversity of people and landscapes that shape our nation’s past, present, and future. For each performance, Wolf Trap commissions artists to create site-specific work that is captured on location at the National Park in high definition video. A taped performance projected on giant screens combines with live music and dance on the Filene Center stage to bring the essence of the National Park to Wolf Trap’s audience. Previous Face of America sites have been 2000: Yosemite National Park, 2001: Virgin Islands National Park, 2002: Mammoth Cave National Park, 2003: A Celebration of Flight, Kitty Hawk, 2006: Hawai`i.
