Djembe specialist and Wolf Trap Master Teaching Artist Kofi Dennis guides adults of all skill levels through the engaging experience of a djembe drum circle. Feel your stress melt away through this therapeutic art form as you discover the rhythmic patterns, phrases, and techniques of this prominent West African drumming tradition in a comfortable group setting.
You may bring your own drum to class or use one of the djembes that the instructor will have available during class time. To use one of the instructor's djembes during class, please select the $225 registration, which includes a one-time $25 rental fee for the drum.

During the Winter term, 10 classes will be held on Tuesdays from February 5 - April 9, 2013.
Classes are not interchangeable.
Participants can only attend their registered class.
Space is very limited and available on a first come, first served basis.
Tuition: $200 per 10-week session
(additional $25 materials fee for use of class drums)

Teacher Bio:
Kofi Dennis is a graduate of the School of Performing Arts, University of Ghana, and studied early childhood and adolescent education at Komenda College, University of Cape Coast. He performs as half of the duo Anansegromma, presenting music, dance, drums, games, and stories. Dennis has been teaching creative drama at the Montessori School of Northern Virginia, Annandale, for the past 10 years and has been a Wolf Trap Teaching Artist since 1998. He co-created and performed for many years in Grandmother's Footsteps, an interactive children's performance at The Barns of Wolf Trap. Dennis is also a Wolf Trap Master Teaching Artist who conducts Artsplay™ and Baby Artsplay™, as well as residencies in early-childhood classrooms. Since 2004, he has teamed up with the faculty of the World Children's Choir to present African drumming for concepts and for peace. His 3 daughters sing with the choir.
