Love to sing and dance with your little one? Discover ways to encourage self-expression and imaginative play with your child through music, movement, and stories led by Wolf Trap Master Teaching Artists. Our engaging and interactive signature program for children 6 months to 3 years old and their parents or caregivers stimulates young children’s intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development. Songs and experiences learned in class enhance your playtime at home.

Both sections of Spring Baby Artsplay! are SOLD OUT. Please call 703-937-6304 to have your name placed on our waiting list. We will contact you if a spot becomes available.


Registration Information

By registering, you agree to our classes policy.
During the spring term, 8 classes will be held on Saturdays, March 16 - May 4, 2013.
Classes are not interchangeable.
Participants can only attend their registered class.
Space is very limited and available on a first come, first served basis.

Tuition: $200 per 8-week session

With your registration you will receive:

  • A special Baby Artsplay!™ kit with the featured children's book, a Baby Artsplay!™ CD, basic rhythm instruments, Wolfie (Wolf Trap's signature furry friend), and other multisensory props
  • Activities and resources to enhance and extend you and your child's experience with the artist
  • Complimentary snacks and drinks for parents, caregivers, and children 

Location

All classes are held at the Center for Education at Wolf Trap.
Changing stations are available in male and female restrooms

 

Teacher Bios

Kofi Dennis has been a Master Teaching Artist with the Wolf Trap Institute for Early Learning Through the Arts since 1998. Kofi provides classroom residencies and professional development workshops in music and creative drama for early childhood educators locally and nationally. In addition, Kofi trains new Institute Teaching Artists, conducts Baby Artsplay music classes for infants, toddlers and their parents at the Wolf Trap Center for Education and in local classrooms, helped pilot the Baby Artsplay classroom model for children and teachers used nationally in Early Head Start Centers, and co-created and performed an interactive children's performance at The Barns at Wolf Trap for the Institute’s Field Trip productions.

Kofi is a graduate of the School of Performing Arts, University of Ghana, and studied early childhood and adolescent education at Komenda College, University of Cape Coast. He teaches djembe drumming at the Center for Education and has the unique opportunity of working with juvenile and adult prisoners in area county jails, sharing his talents of storytelling, drum rhythms, and dance.

Kofi has been teaching creative drama at the Montessori School of Northern Virginia, Annandale. Since 2004, he has teamed up with the faculty of the World Children’s Choir to present African drumming for concepts and for peace. He performs as half of the duo Anansegromma, presenting music, dance, drums, games, and stories. 

Sylvia Zwi arrived in New York from Brazil more than two decades ago and has since established herself as a dynamic and innovative educator. Among many disciplines and schools, she taught at Woodmere Academy and Stecher and Horowitz School for the Arts in Long Island, NY. Throughout her 17 years in DC, she has been active with numerous arts organizations including Levine School of Music, Wolf Trap Institute, Sitar Arts Center, and Choral Arts Society. In addition, she holds the position of music teacher at Oyster-Adams Bilingual School (DCPS - English/Spanish) and provides professional training in both English and Spanish for Fairfax County Office for Children.
