This groovy tradition continues with the best of the '70s

  • Composer, singer, and instrumentalist, Jack Bruce’s work with Cream and the Tony Williams Lifetime has broken down barriers of tradition and has created a new type of music the world had never heard before. In 2009 Bruce reunited with Robin Trower to release Seven Moons Live.

  • Fusing rock, jazz, Latin, and R&B, War was the first and most successful musical crossover band. They are best known for their hits “Low Rider,” “Spill the Wine,” “The Cisco Kid,” and “Why Can’t We Be Friends?”

  • Mitch Ryder & the Detroit Wheels gained popularity in the 1960s with their R&B style that crossed the color line in music. Ryder was most known for his bands’ Top 5 hit “Devil with a Blue Dress On/Good Golly Miss Molly.”

  • Another R&B band of the 1960s, Rare Earth’s hits included “I Just Want to Celebrate,” “Good Time Sally,” and their cover of the Temptations’ “(I Know) I’m Losing You.”
