- Comedian/author/actor Steve Martin tunes up for a performance that melds comedy with his ingenious five-string banjo expertise and clawhammer skills. His long-standing love of the instrument has prompted Martin to annually award The Steve Martin Prize for Excellence in Banjo and Bluegrass, which fosters greater awareness for bluegrass performers and honors dedicated artists.
- The Steep Canyon Rangers from North Carolina have spread their love of bluegrass across the country since 1999. The group’s first album with Martin, Rare Bird Alert (2011), flew to No. 1 on Billboard’s Bluegrass Chart and No. 43 on the Billboard Top 200.
- Edie Brickell’s soft, Southern vocals lend an intimate style to her fellow band mates’ reverberations. Her first album as a singer/songwriter, Shooting Rubberbands at the Stars (1988), sold more than 1 million copies.
- On April 23, 2013, Brickell will release Love Has Come For You, an album she cowrote with Martin, and which features instrumentation from The Steep Canyon Rangers.
