Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts is proud to announce the world premiere of the sixth installment of its innovative Face of America series, Face of America: Glacier National Park. The multimedia and multidisciplinary artistic adventure series uses the rich language of the performing arts to interpret the diverse cultures, communities, and geography found throughout our National Park System.

Face of America: Glacier features the work of Trey McIntyre, one of today’s most sought after choreographers. McIntyre’s new dance, The Sun Road, commissioned by Wolf Trap specifically for Face of America: Glacier National Park, will be created in Glacier National Park and captured on high definition video. During the world premiere event on stage at Wolf Trap, the resulting footage will be projected on an immense backdrop and integrated with live performance.

In telling the story of Glacier National Park, the event also features live performances by Montana artists including Blackfeet Indian singer/songwriter Jack Gladstone; cowboy singer Rob Quist; and Emmy Award-winning pianist Philip Aaberg.

Great Big Sea

Known for pushing musical boundaries, Great Big Sea has developed a prowess for delivering a distinct sound that sets them apart from main stream bands. With an array of unique styles and rootsy Celtic sounds, Great Big Sea is constantly inspired by their native Canada and its beauty. Since their debut album in 1992, the group has toured in Canada, the U.S., and Europe. Great Big Sea made their U.S. debut with ’98’s Rant and Roar, and has since produced six more albums. Their most recent release, Fortune’s Favor, released in 2008, blends their Celtic rock sound with catchy pop beats, taking the band in a progressive new direction, while expanding their reach to a wider fan base. Despite any sound shift, this group will always remain true to their Newfoundland origins.

Carbon Leaf

Richmond, Virginia-based Carbon Leaf burst onto the scene in 1996 with their roots-rock-oriented album Meander, quickly amassing a large following throughout the mid-Atlantic region. The group’s dynamic, high-energy performances have kept fans engaged for over a decade, rich with hit songs from a string of commercially successful releases, most notably Indian Summer and Love Loss Hope Repeat. The band’s most recent album, Nothing Rhymes With Woman, was recorded in their Richmond home, and marks a return to the Celtic-rock sound that originally brought them to the forefront of the music scene.
