$25 lawn; $48 in-house

The legendary Tony Bennett returns to Wolf Trap for an evening of timeless jazz-infused pop standards that have made him one of the most celebrated musicians in history. From his first hits, “Because of You,” and “I Left My Heart in San Francisco,” Bennett has bridged the generational gap with his Grammy winning album, MTV Unplugged and recent duets with Michael Bublé and the Dixie Chicks, to name a few. Bennett is a long time member of the Wolf Trap Foundation Board of Directors and is a leading advocate for the arts and music. He is a true musical icon and continues to stay relevant after more than a half century in the business.

Sheryl Crow
Friday, July 3, 2009 at 8 p.m.
$30 lawn; $48 in-house

Sheryl Crow has become a household name through her catchy pop-rock tunes that have dominated the airwaves for almost two decades. Crow started her career in dramatic fashion with the ’90s hits “All I Wanna Do” and “If It Makes You Happy,” earning Crow her first Grammys. Crow continued her success well into the new millennium with a long list of follow-up hit singles, including duets with Kid Rock and Sting. Crow’s most recent album, Detours, released in 2008, addresses both personal plights and critical cultural and world issues. Covering topics from global warming to her public fight against breast cancer, Crow’s Detours continues to wrap her recognizable pop-rock style around thought-provoking, culturally relevant issues.

Gladys Knight
Sunday, July 5, 2009 at 8 p.m.
$25 lawn; $45 in-house

One of soul music’s enduring pioneers, Gladys Knight’s newest album, Before Me, is inspired by the classics of her predecessors. Knight’s career began more than 50 years ago, when she teamed up with her brother and cousins to form Gladys Knight and the Pips. After winning three career Grammys for their performances of “Midnight Train to Georgia,” “Neither One of Us” in 1973, and “Love Overboard” in 1988, the Pips retired after their 1988 tour. Knight went on to launch a celebrated solo career, collaborating along the way with greats Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, and Dionne Warwick. Her classic, unforgettable melodies succeed in drawing audiences back into the classy sophistication of the days of their inception. Lifetime achievement honors include a 1996 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, recognition from the Rhythm and Blues Foundation, and Black Entertainment Television.
