 $20

Radney Foster, host of the popular Crossroads program on Country Music Channel, arrives for a rare Barns performance in support of his September 2009 release, Revival. A true crossover artist, straddling the fence between pop and country, Foster has penned songs for the Dixie Chicks, Hootie and the Blowfish, Kenny Chesney, and Keith Urban. His hit songs include “Nobody Wins”, the country chart No. 1 “Crazy for You”, and “Texas in 1880”, the latter of which is regularly covered by Pat Green at live shows with audience sing-a-longs.

Robbie Schaefer w/ Special Guest Lucy Wainwright Roche

Robbie Schaefer

A rockstar, children’s musician, instructor, radio personality, and philanthropist, Robbie Schaefer is truly a portrait of versatility. Best known for his lead guitar role in the critically acclaimed folk-pop band Eddie from Ohio, Schaefer also finds ample time for solo efforts, with his 2004 debut In the Flesh, and 2008’s Strange and Lovely World. This past summer, Schaefer traveled to Uganda for the OneVoice project, an effort to expand global communication through the common language of music. A major advocate for arts-based learning tactics with a strong sense of purpose and the versatility to capture both child and adult listeners, Schaefer has positioned himself as a leader in communities both locally and worldwide.

Lucy Wainwright Roche

Stemming from a highly acclaimed musical family as the half-sister of Rufus and Martha Wainwright, and daughter of Loudon Wainwright III, Lucy Wainwright Roche arrives for her Barns debut with bright, refreshing vocals and buoyant folk-pop that is quickly garnering attention from critics. NPR selected Roche’s “Saddest Song” as a Song of the Day, and called her “sincere and raw, at times recalling Joni Mitchell and Patty Griffin.” Roche released her first EP, 8 Songs, in 2007, and two others, 8 More and Live at Lime, a year later. Earlier this year, the song “Snare Drum” won Best Folk Song at the 8th Annual Independent Music Awards.

Jean-Luc Ponty w/ Special Guest Clara Ponty

$35

Jean Luc Ponty

Considered one of the best contemporary violinists, Jean-Luc Ponty makes his debut at The Barns with his exploratory blend of world, swing, country, classical, and jazz. His playing is punctuated by the driving, punchy style of a horn player, and often incorporates computer generated sequencing which is a key element to his 1983 album, Individual Choice. Ponty’s career arguably peaked throughout the ’70s and ’80s, when he toured the world repeatedly and recorded 12 consecutive albums that all reached the top 5 on the Billboard jazz charts and sold millions of copies. Ponty is an in-demand collaborator and has performed with industry giants Elton Jean and Wolf Trap artists Al Di Meola and Stanley Clarke. His latest studio release is 2007’s The Atacama Experience featuring his five-piece band, and a pair of special guests.

Clara Ponty

A decidedly different musician from her father, Clara Ponty offers eloquent piano compositions that Allmusic.com describes as “dreamy and impressionistic”. Born in Paris but primarily raised in Los Angeles, Ponty draws on her worldly background as a source of inspiration for songs. At a young age, Clara has already emerged from her father’s shadow with the release of her self-titled debut album in 1997, and its follow up, The Embrace in 1999. Fans eagerly await her upcoming release at the end of this year, which features Ponty’s singing debut on songs that delve into her personal experiences and spiritual path in this modern world.
