Vienna VA.—The Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts proudly hosts its inaugural 5k and Howl-o-ween Fun Run beginning at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 25. Presented as the Foundation’s first environmentally sustainable fundraising event, all collateral and materials used will feature organic, sustainable composition to reduce environmental impact. Matthew Lesko, nationally recognized entrepreneur and New York Times best selling author will serve as the event’s master of ceremonies.
The run begins promptly at 8:45 a.m. at the Filene Center’s upper parking circle. The course winds through the park and surrounding neighborhoods, and circles back to Wolf Trap.
Additional activities boast fun for the entire family, including a one mile fun run, costume contest for children, live remote broadcast from Mix 107.3, and live entertainment from local rock group Everyone But Pete.
All proceeds from ticket prices serve to benefit Wolf Trap’s diverse array of nationally renowned arts & education programs. Interested individuals and families are encouraged to visit the event’s registration page for a list of participation categories and price points. The top two male and female finishers will win two tickets for travel anywhere in the continental United States, courtesy of American Airlines. County Supervisor for the Dranesville district of Virginia will lead the event’s culminating awards ceremony.
Continuing to build on the organization’s 18-month-old “Go Green” initiative, Wolf Trap has taken several important steps to make sure that the Fun Run is environmentally sustainable, including preferred parking for carpoolers, recycling bins along the course, race shoe recycling, organic t-shirts and food, and sustainable medals.
