Vienna , VA—Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts and Theater of the Stars is holding auditions for teen extras to appear in the national touring production of Les Misérables when it makes it stop in Vienna, Virginia, August 29 through September 7, 2008. Auditions are being held on Saturday, July 19th at Tysons Corner Center, 1961 Chain Bridge Rd., McLean, Virginia 22102, in the Fairfax County Room on the second level.
Registration for auditions begins at 10:00 a.m. and ends promptly at 12 noon. Participants are encouraged to arrive early in order to guarantee an audition slot. Individuals 14 to 17 years old are eligible to audition, however teens with an older look are preferred, as they will be playing college aged characters. Candidates are required to bring two headshots and a resume, with all relevant contact information included. Registration forms are available at www.wolftrap.org and www.shoptysons.com.
Applicants should prepare the Les Misérables numbers “Master of the House” and “At the End of the Day.” Accompaniment and lyrics sheets will be provided during the audition. Applicants must be available from August 18th to September 7th for all rehearsals and performances. Rehearsals begin on August 18th and will be held in West Point, New York until August 25th. Some travel expenses to and from New York will be paid.
Les Misérables, one of the most popular musicals in history, opened on March 3, 1987, garnered 12 Tony Award nominations, and took home eight, including Best Musical and Best Original Score. Since its dramatic opening year, more than 37,000 professional performances have been played to more than 49 million people worldwide. This story of an outcast’s experience at a second chance at life features an unparalleled score with songs such as “I Dreamed a Dream,” “On My Own,” “A Heart Full of Love,” and “One Day More.”
Families of children cast as extras will receive discounted tickets to select performances.
