Wine connoisseurs and art enthusiasts are coming together for a fantastic weekend of organic culinary delights, wine tastings, and a silent art auction to benefit Wolf Trap’s Education Programs,
Friday, March 7 through Sunday, March 9, 2008. All events are open to the public. To make a reservation or for more information, including individual event and package pricing, please visit
www.wolftrap.org or call (703) 255-4030.
This year’s
Art Uncorked! begins on Friday, March 7 at 7 pm, when Wolf Trap’s own culinary team hosts a sumptuous wine dinner; five courses featuring local and organic fare complete with wine pairings. On Saturday, March 8 at 6:30 pm, visual art from local and national artists will be auctioned during an evening filled with wine tastings provided by Reston’s Wine Cabinet, lavish desserts, and a champagne dance featuring the live music of Rendevous at The Barns at Wolf Trap. Art available at the auction can be previewed on Friday and Saturday from 12 noon to 5 pm at the Center for Education at Wolf Trap. The weekend concludes on Sunday, March 9 at 12 noon with a Spanish-themed cava and tapas brunch, hosted by Evo Bistro in McLean, Virginia.
All events, except for the Sunday brunch, will take place at the Center for Education at Wolf Trap, 1645 Trap Rd., Vienna, VA 22182.
In addition, Wolf Trap’s event staff has integrated
environmentally responsible planning and decision-making into many aspects of 2008’s
Art Uncorked! Wines from sustainable, organic, and biodynamic vineyards and producers will be showcased during the events; living centerpieces/décor elements and beeswax candles will add to the natural and organic theme of the wine dinner on Friday night; and kitchen waste will be composted onsite at Wolf Trap for later use on the grounds. Carbon offsets will also be purchased from Carbonfund.org to help the event attain carbon neutral status.
All proceeds from
Art Uncorked! directly benefit Wolf Trap’s acclaimed Education Programs, including the Wolf Trap Opera Company and the Institute for Early Learning Through the Arts, a local, national, and international program that promotes the use of the performing arts in early childhood education. Additionally, funds will benefit the expansion of other education programs at the Center for Education at Wolf Trap, the Foundation’s national arts-in-education resource center for children, parents, educators, and artists.
