Terrence D. Jones, Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts President and CEO has been named Washingtonian of the Year by Washingtonian magazine. For 35 years, Washingtonian has honored men and women who give their time and talents to make the Washington, DC area a better place. Jones was awarded this year’s title for his tireless efforts improving the lives of area children, families, and educators through the arts and education. He created the national Center for Education at Wolf Trap; has introduced arts-based education programs to more than 450 preschool classes in the District of Columbia; and according to JoAn D. Tolley, daughter of Wolf Trap’s founder, “has become a passionate voice for the value of the arts in the lives of everyone.”

Jones has served as President and CEO of the Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts, located in Vienna, Virginia, since 1996 and during that time has positioned the organization as one of the nation’s premier centers for the integration of performing arts, education, technology, and community. In 2005, Jones received the Fan Taylor Distinguished Service Award for exemplary service to the field of professional presenting from the Association of Performing Arts Presenters. Prior to joining Wolf Trap, Jones was CEO and Artistic Director of the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts at the University of Illinois at Ubana-Champaign for ten years.
