Seasonal Employment Questions

"When should I apply for seasonal employment?"
Start checking employment opportunities in late February. Job postings including descriptions and qualifications, as well as an application form, will be available. You may also contact Human Resources at (703) 255-1906.
"What types of summer positions are available?"
Wolf Trap Foundation hires concession stand attendants and supervisors, kitchen staff, Encore Circle hospitality staff, box office salespersons, gift shop cashiers and supervisors, Program and Production coordinator and administrative assistant, drivers, and hospitality staff.

"Do I have to be available to work evenings and weekends?"
Most, but not all, positions require evening, weekend and possibly holiday availability. Some positions require daytime hours Monday through Friday.
How many hours of work are required?
Typically, 20 to 40 hours per week would be required. Hours vary depending on the position.
"How old do you have to be to work at Wolf Trap?"
Typically, at least 16 years old. Wolf Trap is not accessible by public transportation, and staff must have their own transportation. Also, some labor laws may affect employment of younger teens.
"Do you need ushers? Do ushers get paid?"
Filene Center ushers, both volunteer and paid, are staffed by the National Park Service. You may call (703) 255-1814 for more information. For information about ushering at The Barns at Wolf Trap, please call (703) 255-1948.


General Employment Questions

"Do I have to be a U.S. citizen?"
No, but you must have the appropriate paperwork authorizing you to work in the U.S.
"How do I apply for an internship? Are internships paid?”
Interns receive a stipend. For summer internships, the application deadline is March 1. Spring and Fall internships are also available. See Internship Opportunities for details.
“Are volunteer positions available at Wolf Trap Foundation?”
Volunteers are staffed by the Wolf Trap Associates, our membership program. You may call (703) 255-1940 for more information. Volunteers may work on projects year round, as well as staffing the Filene Center gift shops during the summer season.
