Established by an Act of Congress in 1798, the United States Marine Band is America’s oldest continuously active professional musical organization. Its mission is unique—to provide music for the President of the United States and the Commandant of the Marine Corps. Free Country, the Marine Band’s contemporary music ensemble, consists of vocalists, horns, piano, guitar, bass, and drums. Made up of members of “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band, Free Country programs feature modern and classic hits from the 1960s to the present. Genres span pop, rock, R&B, and country by such recording artists as Jason Aldean, Lady A, Melissa Etheridge, Tina Turner, and Aretha Franklin. Free Country delivers humor and reflection honoring our men and women in uniform through songs about the American experience.
Wolf Trap will host community healthcare workers and volunteers and educators for this complimentary performance in recognition of their heroic efforts over the past year.
Thanks to PNC for making this evening possible!
