Wolf Trap’s COVID-19 protocols and policies are subject to change based on the CDC, Virginia, and National Park Service policies. Please check the guidelines and policies prior to your performance for the most up-to-date information.

The Barns at Wolf Trap Guidelines and Policies

The health and safety of our patrons, artists, and staff is our highest priority. We are working with state and local authorities, as well as the National Park Service, to ensure that we are in compliance with official policies as we develop COVID-19 protocols and procedures. We will be updating this page regularly with the latest information for gathering together. CDC Guidelines

To keep everyone safe at The Barns at Wolf Trap performances and events, Wolf Trap Foundation requires that everyone provide accepted forms of photo ID, verification of full vaccination, or proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken within 48 hours of the performance. Vaccination cards and COVID-19 test results must match the patrons’ photo ID. Masks must be worn within the venue by all patrons at all times except when actively eating or drinking.

Please plan to arrive early for your performance to allow extra time for traffic, parking and health check-in prior to entering The Barns at Wolf Trap. Doors will open 90 minutes prior to performances.

Vaccination Requirement

  • All patrons regardless of age who attend performances at The Barns at Wolf Trap must check in at the Health & Safety Tent prior to entry to show proof of being fully vaccinated by the date of their visit. Verification of vaccination must be provided by either paper or electronic documentation (photo of card is accepted). “Fully vaccinated” means the performance date must be at least 14 days after the second dose of a two-dose COVID-19 vaccine, or a single-dose COVID-19 vaccine.
  • Wolf Trap will accept proof of vaccination against COVID-19 with a vaccine approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) or by the World Health Organization (WHO).
  • Patrons may bring a physical copy of their vaccine card, a photo on a phone, a printout from your medical provider or state's vaccine registry, or proof of completed health screening using CLEAR Health Pass.

    The vaccine registries for D.C., Maryland and Virginia are listed below:
  • If you are unable to be vaccinated, you may provide proof of a Rapid COVID-19 antigen test taken within 48 hours of the performance at The Barns at Wolf Trap. Rapid COVID-19 Antigen tests are available at CVS MinuteClinics throughout the DMV area, and most urgent care sites. Please note that these generally require an appointment in advance. At-home tests will not be accepted.
  • Proof of vaccination and COVID-19 test results must match patron’s photo ID.

Mask Requirement

  • All staff, volunteers, vendors and visitors will wear face masks inside The Barns, including during performances, unless they are actively eating and drinking. Only performers may be unmasked when performing.
  • Facial masks should fit snugly and should fully cover your nose, mouth and chin. Masks with a valve, gaiters, bandannas or scarves are not permitted.
  • Masks will be provided to patrons who arrive without one or are wearing a mask that does not meet Wolf Trap requirements.

Health and Safety

  • Heating and Ventilation: For superior air quality, Wolf Trap has upgraded its HVAC systems and installed MERV13 filters wherever possible per CDC recommendation. Bipolar ionization has been installed in air handling systems, and indoor ventilation has been optimized to maximize fresh air circulation.
  • Concessions: A full concessions menu will be available for ordering at the bar or using GoTab, a contactless ordering platform. Use your mobile device to scan a QR code at your table, place an order, pay, and your food and beverage will be delivered to your table located inside The Barns. Tents will also be available outside the Barns for those who wish to enjoy their food and beverages outdoors.
  • Access Your Tickets: Digital tickets are available to access from your mobile device. Log-in to your MyTickets account and download your tickets before arriving at the gate. Increase the brightness level on your mobile device for easier scanning. If you’d like to print your tickets use the link provided in the confirmation email you received when you purchased your tickets.
  • We encourage patrons to practice physical distancing when possible.
  • Designated lobby seating areas have been created for patrons to sit while waiting for the performance. Other areas have been designated specifically for patrons who are eating and drinking.
  • Hand sanitizing stations are available throughout the venue.
  • Wolf Trap has employed enhanced cleaning and sanitization protocols within The Barns between performances to assist in ensuring patron health and safety.
  • All Wolf Trap artists, patrons, staff, volunteers and vendors will abide by established Health & Safety protocols.
  • Patrons who are feeling ill are asked to please stay home and utilize Wolf Trap’s ticket exchange options.

FILENE CENTER GUIDELINES & POLICIES

Vaccination Requirement

Mask Requirement

The National Park Service requires everyone to wear a mask at all times – unless actively eating or drinking – in the following areas:
  • All buildings, including restrooms
  • The ticketed area of the Filene Center
  • Children's Theatre-in-the-Woods
  • Lines to enter the Filene Center
  • Passenger carts

Know Before You Go

To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all Wolf Trap visitors and staff, National Park Service security staff will be inspecting all items entering and reentering the ticketed area. Please see the following new size limits of coolers, containers, and bags allowed within the venue. Wolf Trap patrons are permitted to bring food and alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Below is a list of prohibited items not allowed in the Filene Center.

Size Guidelines for Coolers and Bags:

  • Allowable coolers size is no larger than 16”x 16” x 8”
  • Coolers with wheels are allowed as long as they do not exceed size limits.
  • Allowable bag size (including suitcases, duffel bags or backpacks) is no larger than 14”x 13” x 10”
  • No more than two items per person. Blankets, ground cloths, and purses are allowed and do not count toward the two item per person limit.

Security Inspections:

  • All containers and packages will be inspected. This includes coolers, baskets, tote bags, purses, diaper bags and any and all other containers. The Park Service may also ask you to shake out your blanket or jacket.
  • Security screening and inspections will be done at all Filene Center entrances prior to scanning your tickets. Patrons will also be asked to walk through metal detectors.
  • If you have no containers to inspect, or are only carrying a purse, fanny pack, or blanket, you may use the Express Gate. No packages other than a small purse not to exceed 4.5" x 6.5" for the Express Gate.

Prohibited Items include:

  • Weapons including but not limited to firearms, projectile weapons, ammunition, bladed, edged, or sharp tools or implements, club-like items and striking devices, explosives or combustible chemical compounds and mixtures, and disabling chemicals such as mace or pepper spray
  • Wagons and carts (coolers with wheels are allowed as long as they do not exceed size limits)
  • Candles, bug repellant burning coils, anything that has a fire or flame
  • Pets (except service animals)
  • Grills
  • Beer kegs
  • Athletic equipment (e.g., balls and flying discs) and bicycles, scooters, or skates
  • Tents, canopies or umbrellas over six feet in diameter
  • Drones or other flying apparatus

Ticketing

  • Tickets are available via wolftrap.org. To purchase accessible seating, please call 703.255.1868. The Filene Center box office is open Monday - Friday: 10 AM to 4 PM and Saturday - Sunday: 4 PM to 9 PM (only on performance days).
  • All patrons, regardless of age, must have a ticket.

Seating

  • Seating on the lawn at the Filene Center is General Admission, and on a ‘first come, first served’ basis.
  • There is a section in the back of the lawn designated for patrons using lawn chairs. This includes legless beach chairs. Seat cushions with back support may be used anywhere on the lawn, and are available for rent at the Wolf Trap Gift Shop on the plaza.
  • Should official government imposed capacity guidelines change, Wolf Trap Foundation reserves the right to reseat patrons.

Health & Safety

  • EPA-approved disinfectants will be used to clean and sanitize bathrooms, concessions, gates, gathering areas, and other high touch surfaces on a regular basis.
  • Hand sanitizing stations will be available throughout the Filene Center.

General Performance & Attendance Information

  • All sales are final. Performances, schedules, programs and artists are subject to change.
  • No refunds will be given unless a performance is cancelled in its entirety, with no replacement performance scheduled. Performances take place in all-weather, including rain or shine. Patrons should come prepared for the elements. In the unlikely event that a performance is cancelled due to extreme weather conditions, Wolf Trap Foundation will notify ticket buyers by email and post an alert on the homepage of wolftrap.org.
  • Latecomers will be seated at the discretion of management.
  • Patrons may bring their own food and alcoholic/non-alcoholic beverages to enjoy at picnic tables around the Park, and on the lawn.  
  • Visitors with in-house seating may not take food to their seats. Visitors are welcome to purchase food inside the ticketed area, but must consume it on the Plaza or picnic table located to the left and right of the Filene Center, or outside the Filene Center gates.

  • The Wolf Trap Express Shuttle, operated by Fairfax Connector, offers roundtrip service from the West Falls Church Metro Station (Orange Line) to all Filene Center summer performances. More info
  • Courtesy shuttle cart rides provided by NPS personnel will be limited to visitors with accessibility needs only.
  • All Wolf Trap venues are smoke-free facilities. Smoking, including E-cigarettes, are only permitted outside the venues more than 25-feet from the gates.
