Mythili Prakash, one of the world’s leading young dancers and choreographers of Bharatanatyam—a classical Indian dance form, brings her intimate and resonant solo work JWALA (Rising Flame) to The Barns. Prakash will be accompanied onstage by live musicians for a night of “music and dance [that work] together in trance-inducing harmony” (The New York Times). Her transfixing choreography explores fire as a symbol of loss, hope, life, and death in our current global moment. As the Life of Pi actress describes JWALA, “What prompts every moment forward in life, is the flame burning unseen within us.”
