Vienna, Virginia (October 28, 2021) – Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts today announces the return of the beloved annual tasting extravaganza, Bourbon and Bubbles. Reimagined as a more socially distant Bourbon In Bubbles last year, this year’s event will transform the new Pavilions at Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts into open-air tasting venues under the stars. On November 20, 2021 support Wolf Trap Foundation’s arts and education programs while exploring the rich, agrarian culture of Wolf Trap’s neighboring Appalachian Mountain Region, experienced through a daring collection of craft cocktails, whiskeys and sparkling wines.

This year’s Bourbon and Bubbles tasting journey travels throughout Appalachia, honing in on distilling traditions of the region’s Scotch, Irish, and German immigrant settlers, and highlighting the regional ingredients and avant-garde preservation techniques they employed that paved the foundations for the modern bourbon and cocktail industry.

Guests can join notable industry experts for special tastings around the campfire, including Becky Harris, Owner and Chief Distiller of the local favorite Catoctin Creek Distillery, and Nancy Irelan, Owner and Winemaker, of the James Beard-nominated, Fingerlakes-region winery, Red Tail Ridge.

Hospitality purveyors, Paul Taylor and Sherra Kurtz, are the master mixologists at the helm of this year’s Bourbon and Bubbles tasting journey. The creative duo’s flair for presenting imaginative, modern re-interpretations of nostalgic flavors has been lauded by critics from Washingtonian, The Washington Post, Eater DC, and Thrillist, and their culinary creations won recognition as a 2021 Rammy’s finalist.

The spirited tastings and gourmet fare will be held across several new (heated) open-air Pavilions at Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts, complete with roasted gourmet s’mores at outdoor fire pits.
