  • American Songbook

Musical treasure John Eaton is familiar to countless sold-out audiences at The Barns at Wolf Trap and now he’s back to offer something truly special. This class introduces students to Harold Arlen, Richard Rodgers, Harry Warren, and Hoagy Carmichael—songwriters and composers who greatly influenced the great American songbook. Eaton’s charming wit, musical demonstrations, and historical insights will energize each session.

  • In this energetic class, siblings and parents/caregivers together engage in movement and songs appropriate for ages 6 months to 60 months—and grownups too! This family experience will provide an opportunity to share dance, music, and drama guided by a Wolf Trap Teaching Artist. Songs and stories learned in class translate into creative sibling and family interactions at home.

  • Are you brave enough to sing with the car windows rolled down? Get your pipes into shape and discover your unique vocal capabilities in this engaging, hands-on class taught by Lee Anne Myslewski, vocal instructor and administrative director for Wolf Trap Opera and Classical Programming. In this 5-part series, participants will learn the basic physiology behind vocal production, as well as how to develop their best tone, vocal wellness, song analysis, and more in a comfortable group setting.

  • Channel your creative spirit! Delve into the essentials of songwriting with Robbie Schaefer, guitarist and songwriter from the acclaimed independent folk/rock band Eddie From Ohio.

  • Drumming and Drama

Traditional African stories provide the inspiration for creativity as children interpret fables and delelop rhythms on their own djembe drums. Through drama, movement, and song children will explore the world of drumming with Wolf Trap Teaching Artist Kofi Dennis. Come create your own musical tale!

  • Drum Circle

Wolf Trap Teaching Artist Kofi Dennis will guide drummers of all skill levels through the shared experience of an African drum circle where rhythms organically evolve in a comfortable group setting. Whether you have taken drumming classes before, or are curious to see what the noise is all about, this is a great opportunity to showcase your skills or try your hand at an ancient musical tradition.
