Can I get to Wolf Trap from the Dulles Toll Road?
Yes. Wolf Trap has its own exit on the Dulles Toll Road (Rt. 267 West, Exit 15) which is open 24 hours a day. The Wolf Trap exit is for westbound traffic only. Eastbound traffic can exit at Route 7. See our Directions and Map Page (Do NOT confuse the Dulles Toll Road with the Dulles Access Road. These roads run parallel to each other but the Access Road is for airport use only.)
Does my baby need a ticket?
Yes! For most performances, everyone, including children of all ages, needs a ticket – no exceptions, even for babes-in-arms. Children under 2 are permitted for free to Children's Theatre-in-the-Woods.
My Tickets are at Will Call. When can I pick them up?
Patrons may pick up already-purchased tickets at the Wolf Trap box office (in advance or just prior to the performance) during regular Box Office hours. A photo I.D. and confirmation number are needed to claim the tickets.
Is there a discount for senior citizens?
There is a senior citizen discount of 50% off in-house tickets (subject to availability) for persons age 65 and over, beginning half an hour prior to the performance. This service is only offered in-person at the Box Office.
Can I bring in my camera and/or tape recorder?
The use of recording equipment and cameras (with or without flash) during performances is prohibited except by authorized press and personnel.
I cannot attend a show that I am holding a ticket for—can I get a refund?
No refunds are given but patrons may exchange their tickets for a future performance and pay the difference in cost (if any) plus an exchange fee of $5 per ticket with a maximum fee of $30. If the tickets being exchanged to are of lesser value, we do not refund the difference. Exchanges must be done in person at the Wolf Trap box office at least 24 hours prior to the performance date on the ticket.

Filene Center Performances

What time do the gates open?
The gates to the lawn open 1 1/2 hours prior to show time. Because lawn area seating is 'first come, first served,' people do line up at the gates prior to opening in order to get a good spot. People with reserved (pavilion) seats can get into the house 1/2 hour prior to show time.
Can I see from the lawn?
That depends. Lawn seating is undesignated—'first come, first served.' The earlier you arrive, the better your view. For the most part, you can see well from the lawn and you can certainly hear—the lawn has its own separate sound system. But sight depends mainly on when you arrive.Rear right lawn view
Can I bring my own food and drinks?
Yes. Patrons are permitted to bring in food and both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to enjoy in picnic areas and on the lawn.  Only bottled water is allowed in the covered seating area. Kegs are not permitted.  Packages, bags, other containers are subject to inspection at any time. 
NEW FOR 2014: Coolers and picnic baskets will be inspected when entering.  Containers of any type may not exceed 48 qts or 15”x15”x 22” in size.
What is the smoking policy at Wolf Trap?
The Filene Center is a smoke-free facility. Smoking is permitted outside the venue more than 25 feet from the gates.
What happens if it rains?
All performances take place, rain or shine. If there are seats available in-house, lawn ticket holders can exchange their lawn seats for those in-house seats and pay the difference in price. If a show is sold out in-house, the patron should come prepared for the elements. There are NO REFUNDS, exchanges, or rain checks given to ticket holders due to inclement weather. The ushers also will not permit lawn ticket holders to move under cover unless they have upgraded their tickets at the Wolf Trap box office.
I urgently need to contact a patron who is attending the performance. What number should I call?
Persons needing to urgently contact a patron attending a performance at the Filene Center may call the Ranger Station at 703.255.1800.
What is 'general admission' seating?
A General Admission ticket gains admittance to a performance with no designated seating. Patrons may sit wherever they wish, in-house or lawn, on a 'first come, first served' basis. (Seating on the lawn is always on a 'first come, first served' basis.)

General Admission does not mean unlimited tickets are for sale – all performances have a maximum capacity and can sell out.
Can I bring a lawn chair to sit on?
Yes, but people with lawn chairs MUST sit at the back of the lawn area, behind the signs in place on the lawn. This includes legless beach chairs. Seat cushions with back support may be used anywhere on the lawn, and they are available for rent from the gift shop on the plaza.
Are pets allowed at the Filene Center?
With the exception of service dogs assisting patrons with disabilities, pets are not permitted.

The Barns at Wolf Trap Performances

I have tickets for a performance at The Barns. Where is The Barns located?
The Barns at Wolf Trap is located 1/2 mile south of Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts, on the other side of the Dulles Toll Road. Directions.
What time do the doors open?
The doors to the performance space open 30 minutes prior to show time. The bar at The Barns at Wolf Trap serves a variety of appetizers, sandwiches, desserts and a wide variety of beer, wine, and fine spirits starting 90 minutes prior to show time.
What is 'general admission' seating?
A General Admission ticket gains admittance to a performance with no designated seating. Patrons may sit wherever they wish on a 'first come, first served' basis. For General Admission Dances, the chairs are cleared from the main floor to allow room for dancing. Seating remains in the upper balcony.

General Admission does not mean unlimited tickets are for sale – all performances have a maximum capacity and can sell out.
